Principal Angel Woodard

Angel Woodard

Welcome to Union Elementary School, where we teach as if lives depend on it—because they do! My name is Angel Woodard, and I’m honored to serve as the proud principal of this incredible school community.

With over 23 years in education, I bring a wealth of experience and a deep passion for student success. This is my third year as a principal, following a rewarding journey that has included:

  • 11 years as a Mathematics Teacher across elementary, middle, and high school levels
  • 3 years as an Instructional Coach at both the elementary and high school levels
  • 1 year as Dean of Students at the elementary level
  • 6 years as an Assistant Principal at the elementary level

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Georgia State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University, and a Specialist Degree in Reading, Literacy, and Assessment, also from Walden University.

Born and raised in Macon, I’m a proud 1997 graduate of Southwest High School. It is a privilege to continue to serve the very community that helped shape me. I’m also a proud wife and mother of two daughters who all attended schools in this district. We are members of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Historic Downtown Macon. Our family is deeply rooted in this community, and I believe strongly in the power of public education to change lives.

One of my favorite quotes that guides my work comes from Rita Pierson, who said:
"Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be."

At Union, we strive to be those champions for every child—every single day.
